I am bored of my IT job. What should I do?

Never quit.
Brother/ Sister, never quit. Please understand most people do not have a passion. Do you think the person sitting next in your cubicle has one? No. But just see how he projects it.
You might be thinking this probably because
- Your earnings are relatively lesser than your counterpart or your friend or your college mate or anyone you have as a standard.
- You might think probably after quitting, your gates to your dreams would open. Probably ‘NO’.
- You do not want to do what others do.
- You might want to get rich/ promoted to the top probably in a year or two.
- You do not want to live a normal middle class life.
- You have got used to the saying that IT jobs are boring, since you do the same work as nearly 80% of the educated/ engineering background does. Thats a myth!
- You have been made to work on a domain which your company chooses and not what you wanted to choose. Never mind. Every domain has its peak. Start to work.
- You wanted to do something else, but you are still sitting because of your inner fear.
- You are not in a good team, no good manager, bad technology, etc.
- Your friends are enjoying their lives since they follow their passion.
- Every success starts only after taking a risk. So you want to take a risk by quitting/ All motivational people achieved only after they quit/ dropped out.
The above ones are all pure myth. My friend, please understand that , what you might be probably thinking is also what the world thinks or may be the guy in your next cubicle thinks.
I do not want to demotivate you here. Many of our generation do not have what is called a dream/goal/passion/ anything. Friend, money for our generation is a standard for satisfaction. You can never change that. People might tell you vice versa. It may sound great only when heard when you have money and a job/ a source of income in your hand.
If you have got a plan/ an interest in some thing else, probably technology, engineering, teaching, music, theatre, etc and you have been doing it till now, I would have probably suggested you differently. But that too with ‘NO QUITTING’. People who I know excel in these things by not quitting their jobs. They still manage things great.
Friend, people who you talk with, spend time with, enjoy with, will not stay with you forever. Your friends might be in touch with you probably a month or two after you quit. After that, they would be the same, but how things you see would be different. Your idle time would be much longer now. So thoughts will turn like hell. An idle mind is just like hell. You cannot control its spread.
Great ideas, thoughts and innovations would flow only when you are busy. When you get idle, thoughts would go in search of money, living, etc.
So brother/sister, start staying happy where you are and dream from where you are. Never dream after stepping down. Understand that you will never be in the same state ever. Believe that you are always different. Always start to think 10 years ahead.
Speak to a lot of people. Make friends. Enjoy with them. Tour alone. Read book ranging from fiction to philosophy. See more failure stories than successful ones to motivate yourself. Get a certification done in your job. Attend as many trainings as you can. If that doesn’t suit, start preparing for entrance exams. Volunteer yourself in everything.
Do anything and everything until that gives you an ultimate satisfaction/ a good living/ makes you feel comfortable/ is highly respectable. Until then, DO NOT QUIT.
